Celebrating success and creativity with Devon art and drama company Create Workshops.
Two years of creativity has successfully come round for Create Workshops, a unique art and drama provider in South Devon.

To celebrate this special time Directors Samantha Boughton and Joanna Hennessy put on a free creative event on Saturday 28 March 2009, at The Palace Theatre, Paignton.  The event ran smoothly and was attended by 80 children, 40 accompanying adults and Torbay Mayor, Nick Bye.

Create was founded in 2007 by professional artists Joanna Hennessy and, local girl, Samantha Boughton. It was set up to provide children in the South West with a unique combination of drama and art activities that capture their imaginations and reflect their individuality.  Joanna and Samantha had a vision for the company, several years ago, whilst working in Hong Kong. Their passion was demonstrated at the event when Samantha broke down in tears explaining the vision they are now successfully fulfilling.

Lots of fun was had by all at the celebration event, with activities including puppet making, face painting, mural designs, singing and dancing. There was something for everyone including Mayor, Nick Bye, who got stuck into a very noisy but rhythmic samba band workshop!

Commenting on the day, and successful business Create Workshops, Mayor of Torbay Nick Bye said:

"Torbay is a hotbed of creativity and I am delighted to see Create flourishing after two years of running popular drama and art workshops all over the Bay. I am passionate about the arts and I firmly believe that drama can help young people develop confidence and important life skills. The children's performance of the Wizard of Oz at the Palace Theatre on Saturday was inspirational, I'm sure we are nurturing some of the future stars of stage and screen right here in Torbay!"

Defying the credit crunch, with a professional and inspirational approach, Directors, Joanna and Samantha have proved that no matter how hard times may be in the big wide world kids are still bursting with creativity!  Demonstrating their ambitions to further the success of Create they are now developing the Create brand with the introduction of its logo and an increased identity for Create kids through the use of trendy wristbands and other branded merchandise.

Create hold regular art and drama classes, in-school workshops and holiday workshops as well as contributing to community projects.  Their forthcoming Easter workshops will take kids into the wacky world of Dr Seuss with poetry, music, acting and crazy costumes! The two day workshops take place at various venues across the bay between 6 and 17 April.  For more information or to book a place visit www.createworkshops.co.uk or e-mail mail@createworkshops.co.uk
